Sharing Knowledge & Creating Spaces: How can access to Information & Communication, Technologies promote opportunities for women & girls?
Women and girls hold the key to reaching more prosperous and developed societies if they can access knowledge, education and healthcare and the tools to innovate within their communities. Technology - in particular, information and communication technologies (ICTs), such as Internet access, social media - can be force and “voice” multipliers for girls and young women, allowing them to communicate more freely, access educational opportunities, and play greater roles in determining their futures.
ICTs offer the opportunity for women to communicate their needs in their own ways, in real time and on a massive scale. They offer the possibility for anonymity, a key safety issue, and have tremendous organizing potential so that women with similar concerns can speak with a collective voice, strengthening the message of all.
